Curriculum Information
Nurture, Grow, Succeed
At Lever Edge, our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of our pupils, to develop their academic, social and cultural capital.
We believe in helping all of our pupils develop into happy, independent, curious individuals with a lifelong love of learning and discovery.
Through our curriculum, we strive to develop the skills, knowledge and learning attitudes of our pupils so that they may become the best that they can be.
Our school values help children to grow and develop their social and moral code, as they build their sense of uniqueness and self-worth as an individual. We believe all children deserve the opportunity to nurture their individual talents and to achieve their true potential; leading happy, healthy, fulfilled lives, contributing positively to our community.
We celebrate their differences.
We give high priority to teaching the fundamentals of reading, writing and maths, every day, to ensure that all pupils acquire the basic skills for learning and life.
We teach the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Curriculum, using a wide variety of strategies. We firmly believe it is important to provide a broad range of exciting, relevant and creative opportunities that enrich our children’s learning through the use of carefully chosen visitors, such as artists and authors, and trips to places of interest including Blackpool Zoo, Pendle Hill, the theatre and the seaside.
Children also have many opportunities to attend a wide range of afterschool clubs to broaden their experiences – this could be computing, gymnastics, swimming, cookery, art or Forest School.
History, Geography and Faith and Ethics are taught discreetly and specialist staff are used to plan and teach Music, Computing, Spanish and PE.
We believe our curriculum will help to prepare our pupils to become happy, motivated and responsible global citizens.
